color it up..!!

Walking on this site iF couple days ago, and found this colorful bins on one of their slide here.
It's belong to designers from Southern Taiwan University. They call their concept City Switch, interesting isn't it? Imagine they put it on all over the city streets, ho hoooo.. :D

Anyway, they use the simple theory about seesaw, another adorable thought, I would say. It's very simple, just add the color and yes, I think those people around would like to throw some garbage into it. At least I would, hehee.. and I'd really love to have this cool stuff around my campus. ^^

Product Design 2 - Cantik

Here in Indonesia, we have this gorgeous culture named "batik". You can search it if you want to know more, but all I have to say is that batik is a beautiful art work. Paint the wax on a fabric, color it, remove the wax, and voila! what you will find next is a cool motif on a fabric.

This thing to paint the wax on the fabric is called "canting". Usually, people in Java and other city that produce batik in Indonesia use this canting for paint with the hot liquid wax that is cooked over a pan.

Here I am try to make it simple by making a portable canting that can be used anywhere or everywhere. It's my 2nd project on my major study. Started from a nature phenomena, comparing some products that use the phenomena for their concepts, and ended up with a new product. Meet my Cantik, electronic canting for make batik.

It might haven't work perfectly, but this is it, one of my design for another assignment.. ^^

Product Design 1 + 3D Scetch 2 Projects

Talked about design.. and my Uni..

Have I told you that I went to Product Design Department Itenas - Bandung? Well yeah, and it's my 5th year. Hahaaa.. time flies.. It's hard sometimes, but I kinda enjoy it. Hope this is my last year there so I could move forward..!! hehee.. :P

Now here are some of my designs from my 2nd year.

cartilage is a table lighting, made of the skin of jackfruit seeds. We call the jackfruit "nangka" in Indonesia. Sometimes people here using the seeds of nangka to plant a new tree, or boil the seeds to be eaten, and sometimes they would just throw it away. But here, we started from a trash that absolutely useless, and made various products that more valuable. And this one is mine. :D

The yin yang table set is simply came from the image of those great yin and yang philosophy. Combined the unglazed stoneware with the blue glazed one.

Well that's it for now.. I'll post the rest later. Have a nice Monday..!!

Keep designing coz it's fuuunnn..!!^o^

let's play!! ^o^

Monopoly gets a makeover..!!

Hasbro has unveiled the design of the new 75th anniversary edition of their classic board game, Monopoly, set to hit stores in fall of 2010. "Monopoly: Revolution Edition" is slick and round instead of dull and square, with debit cards and an ATM instead of paper money and a banker, clear plastic representations of the classic tokens (bye-bye, little boot!), and clips of popular songs (like Rihanna’s "Umbrella," Daniel Powter’s "Bad Day," and Beyonce's "Crazy in Love") that play after certain actions.

Wondering if there would be a PC game for this one, heheee.. :D

for baby

My upcoming final assignment is going to be "designing a furniture for baby". Still working on the proposal now, while finishing my assignment for this semester. So many things have to be done this year. ^^

Anyway, I borrowed this book from my friend last year, Designed For Kids. There are so many wonderful nursery products designed by designers from around the world. Somehow I like this bassinet designed by Min Kang, a senior designer from Boston.

This is YiAhn, a modular baby bassinet, if I can say. Min named it after his son, Yi Ahn. He designed it before he was born to showed his love to him. Ah, I just love the story behind it. :P You can find it here.

The problem of a bassinet is, it is expensive and can only be used for a short period of time. After a few months, it will become useless. For that problem, Min made an effort to solve it. The bassinet can be used for many years than before by transforming into some other products like storage, chair and table. And when the family has a second baby, it can be used as a bassinet again.

What a design!! :D

fun products..

Simple things could be very interesting..

I just found this gorgeous CHOPPING BOARDS on one of my bookmarked site, Kitchen Critic. They said that no two boards are the same, great isn't it? I really would like to have one, but I haven't got my own house. Should I buy and save it for later in my parents house?? Hmm.. I don't think so, heheee.. :P

There are four designs available for sale. A small character laser engraved into the Acacia wood, and transformed those natural wood grains into a unique and beautiful landscape behind the illustration. Ooooooww, what a great idea..!! ^0^
