December Inspiration: Animal Farm

Having some unused glass bottles at home are sometimes bothering the eyes. But this lady, Nishi Chauhan, saw a lot more shapes from those kind of bottles around her household.

She turned the unused bottles became an 'animal farm', a collection of creatures which also function as lighting objects. Meet Peeves, Porky, Gerry, Flo, Humf, and Ellie!

I couldn't find the original article, but according to this article, it's made of a hand crafted wood, comes with 5 stainless steel razor professional chef knives that held securely by magnets in individual protective sheathes.

2. Human Head Knife Block
Shaped just like a human's head..

3. Heart Knife Holder
This red plastic knives holder and set is just too cool to be ignored if you put it in your kitchen.

Simple and Finished

They called it Fundamental Furniture..
For those who might have never know, let me show you some products design by Japanese furniture maker from Building Fundamental Furniture, one of the "form follow function" furniture maker believers..

Using a fine material with a sufficient design and accurate structure, leave it without any decoration but beautifully finished. They design furniture that is adaptable and modular, so that the user could freely changing the layout of their room, and also could be use for a long time due to the growth of the family.

These are my favorites.. (^^)

The basic furniture gives the user ability to arrange their room easily, and the variety of the wood could give a different touch for every room. Who knows that simple could be so much fun..?! :)

Visit their website here to see more nice and clean designs from Building Fundamental Furniture.

Woolastic..

That word is just jump out of my brain when I saw these cool concept from PeliDesign. They said that they tried to combine of the "plastic-world" and the world of wooden furniture to create some unique pieces of furniture.

The result is just too cool to be ignored. It looks like the resin is grew up and stick on the wood naturally.. and the forms are highly represent the differences between the character of plastic and wood.

I really love the stool by the way, heheee.. :D

The Biedermeier

I'm new to this style, but I do curious about it..
So the story is.. I was checking on this group page Gaisbauer Furniture on my Facebook account and interested on their products. So I look at their website here and found a lot more gorgeous furniture..

Stool (walnut)
Sofa (walnut)
I'm not really a big fans of classic but I like some of classic furniture.. They come in great shapes, really.. Some were combined by another materials (like that stool) that made it look simpler and yet modern, not old.. And I love the fact that they usually manufactured by hand.. and this Gaisbauer Furniture, made me curious about the Biedermeier style that they use on their products.

On my conclusion, Biedermeier style in furniture design is one of the classic styles that was very influential during the early 19th century in Austria and Germany, when the prospering middle-classes wanted a simpler style than the pompous, magnificent Empire style with its grand monumental mahogany furniture.

Biedermeier furniture used locally available materials such as cherry, ash and oak woods. The furniture was simple and elegant. Its original geometric shape often leads it to being described as the forerunner of the modern furniture.

Secretaire (walnut)
The secretaire is one of my favorite. I think it might be the 'it' thing on that time, like you have to put them on your room so that could make you look more fashionable.. things like that, you know, you are very cool if you have one, hehee..

Anyway, Gaisbauer Furniture is also did some projects with other designer. From cocktail bar project to the office room. And I do have my favorite one of their project.. This oval dinning set designed by Ernst Fuchs is just sooo gorgeous..!! :D

fun products..

Simple things could be very interesting..

I just found this gorgeous CHOPPING BOARDS on one of my bookmarked site, Kitchen Critic. They said that no two boards are the same, great isn't it? I really would like to have one, but I haven't got my own house. Should I buy and save it for later in my parents house?? Hmm.. I don't think so, heheee.. :P

There are four designs available for sale. A small character laser engraved into the Acacia wood, and transformed those natural wood grains into a unique and beautiful landscape behind the illustration. Ooooooww, what a great idea..!! ^0^
